The set-up: an asus p5b deluxe, 2 gb of ram, sata 320gb hdd, core2duo 6400, sata dvd-rw dl, xfx nvidia 7950gt. The the pata chipset isn't supported, but I'm not using it so it's disabled in the bios. I have installed OS X successfully, using the "JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich

-R.patch.Integrated.iso," with the SSE2/3 patches and nvidia driver installed.

The problem: When I attempt to boot to OS X I get the grey apple boot screen with the spinning wheel. The wheel spins for a little bit, then a grey crossed-out circle appears over the apple and the boot process halts.

I have never seen this behaviour from OS X, and I haven't found a way to get OS X to boot-up in verbose mode.

Anybody have any ideas what my problem could be, or how I could resolve this issue?
