andytof47
10.4.4 - detecting ATI mobility 16mb vesa 2.0 Hi I have a thinkpad r40 and all is well except for the 3d - It has an ATI 16mb video card and it is crawling along at ummmmmm 5 or fps - whatever it is its slooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww so with out knowing to much I have looked around at threads and still come to nothing conclusive but I am wondering how I can fix this, when I run Ubuntu it's fine with acceleration because of xorg 7.1 and 7.2 AIGLX drivers so i'm wondering how do I fix this.... even booting in safe mode is a painfully sloww experience... apart from that all is well i'm just going through partitioning now hope to get this fix (my lappy has sse2 so should be fine) hdd is detected so it seems like video is the only problem Any help is appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47603-1044-how-to-boot-without-3d-on-vesa20-ati-16mb/ Share on other sites
Lactobacillus P
Better use a newer version it has a better kernel and is way more optimized than the 10.4.4 you are trying. andytof47
ok so a newer kernel would be a small download? as opposed to a whole new image? if so where do i find it and how do i patch it BTW thanks for the TIP Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47603-1044-how-to-boot-without-3d-on-vesa20-ati-16mb/#findComment-341048 Share on other sites
