HP PSC 1410 All In One

I've spent more time than I probably should trying to get this to work. It's an HP PSC 1410 AIO plugged into a Windows XP laptop. Works fine from that computer of course. I have no problem adding it as a printer with the Printer Setup Utility. Now, I've tried a lot of different things to get it to work, and here's the situation where I think it was closest to working: With ghostscript and foomatic and the individual ppd from linuxprinting as the driver, I got a pdf I was trying to print appear in the printer's queue on the windows machine, the printer started whatever it does before printing, but gave up, and the printing queue showed something like 64kb/10.8mb sent (it was a big pdf) and status just stayed "printing." Any idea what might still be holding it up? Seems like it's probably a samba issue, but I have no idea what I could do about that. Thanks in advance.
