Addition to be more precise: when I use uname -a I get the following response revealing that I use the semthex kernel from December 9th

Welcome to Darwin!

noname:~ tom$ uname -a

Darwin noname 8.8.1 Darwin Kernel Version 8.8.1: Sat Dec 9 22:18:27 AZOT 2006; semthex:/nebukadnezar/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 i386

tom:~ tom$

In general I am very satisfied with this. I just upgraded to 10.4.9 keeping the kernel and all programs not using SSE3 too extensively are running perfectly like Photoshop CS3, Lightroom, iTunes, iPhoto ...

Problems are with iDVD and DVD player which is definitely due to SSE3 code.
