cdante
Hi, I recently installed Max OS X 10.4.8 on my Vaio S360 Laptop. Everything seems to work (except for the touchpad, but well), including audio. But, not as I had wished. When I plug in my headset and listen really carefully, I hear sound very softly. Via the build-in speakers I don't hear anything. In the System Preferences window, I just have one output device called "Line Out | AC97 Audio (PCM)". Maybe more people are hit by this flaw, but don't notice they actually have sound on the headset. I tried using the Azalia driver, and the updated AC97 drivers found here on the forum, changed device ids, added Codec-ids but nothing worked. My device ID is 24c5 based on the Intel 82801DB (ICH4) chip. In Windos is identified as SoundMax Digital Audio. The driver which is used is the AppleAC97AudioIntelICH - when I change the PCIPrimary tag or remove it, my volume sliders are disabled. Also, the driver doesn't seem to be connected to any other Plugins in that directory (because when I remove them and restart, I can still hear sounds). Hopefully someone can give me a hint. Thanks in advance, C_DaNTe Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47073-soundmax-24c5-working-but-volume-too-low/ Share on other sites
