alexm54 Posted March 31, 2007 Share Posted March 31, 2007 okay, alright well i've been working really hard to find an affordable processor and cpu that will work... now my question is: can you mix ANY motherboard with ANY processor? example: here's what i want to buy: Motherboard CPU would those be compatible with eachother? why or why not? i've been looking everywhere, wikipedia, google, etc etc, and i'm still at an inconclusive anwser, so, someone, help me pleeease! mkesterco Posted March 31, 2007 Share Posted March 31, 2007 The short answer is NO, you need to verify the socket (on the board) matches the pins (on the chip). I didn't see (easily) that information posted on your links. For best compatibility, you need to look at FSB speed, memory type & speed, and don't forget many processors work better and last longer if they have a fan!!! The Shaun Posted April 2, 2007 Share Posted April 2, 2007 Those two are not compatible. That particular Celeron processor is Socket 478. The motherboard is LGA775. You'd need an LGA775 compatible processor. Don't even mess with a 478 motherboard.
