marticus
hello everyone, i'm kind of new to this osx86 thing. i've been trying to install osx on my system (msi P965, e6300 with ati radeon x700). so far i've only been able to boot single user mode. if i boot normaly the screen goes blank. when i try to edit the atiradeon9700 kext it won't allow me to save. the message i get is that the file is read only. this happens even when i do sudo nano or sudo pico. any advice on how i can get around this with out having to buy a new video card? thanks in advance marticus Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/47025-help-please-how-do-i-edit-kext-for-single-user-mode/ Share on other sites
Mr. Bond
marticus: The ATI kext's aren't actually needed for OS X to boot up normally. You'll simply be using VESA graphics with no accelleration. Anyways, in single user mode, just backup your ATI kexts, and then delete them from extensions. From there you should be able to at least boot to the desktop, so you can more easily install some of the different methods for your card/restore kexts as necessary.
