Dell XPS 400 & ATI X300

I've installed OS 10.4.8 on an Dell XPS 400 tower and most everything works (almost out of the box).... video with QE/CI (up to 1280x1024) and sound with the 9220 hack, network out of the box, DVD-RW, USB, etc all good. I still need to get the X300 video card working a bit better, as there is still some annoying mouse tearing - blocks when you click etc. Any way to get rid of this? I've seen some mouse hacks, but I don't know if this would apply.

 

In my JaS 10.4.8 install I just selected the Combo update, Semthex, and Sigmatel audio options. I'd really love to have 1680x1050 working on this card, as 1280x1024 stretched is ugly.
