tdixon
This paragraph may or may not be relevant to my real question which comes in the paragraph that follows. A couple days ago I got the "deadmoo" image working on my Compaq C303NR laptop. At first when it tried to boot I got "EHCI Controller unable to take control from BIOS" and then "Still waiting for root device." I found this forum and discovered the root device problem was because I have an SATA hard drive, so I disabled SATA in my BIOS and it booted fine into OSX, but before it got into the main part of the OS I still was receiving the EHCI Controller error. Does that EHCI error have anything to do with my hard drive, or is that a USB-related problem? I had never tested USB so I don't know if it was working... Anyway, I decided I'd rather have 10.4.8 than 10.4.1, so I got the JaS DVD and when it boots, I get "AppleHDA.kext failed to load," then I get that same "EHCI Controller unable to take control from BIOS." Then it says it's "creating RAM disks" for /Volumes and /var/tmp and something else, then it says "Launching Crash Reporter." About two or three minutes later, it contines and then loads into the installer. All seems to go well with the install and it tells me to reboot. I click reboot and I get kernel panics and IO this and that errors and it never shuts down. When I restart my machine and try to boot into the installation I just created, nothing happens (i.e. BootMagic says it's preparing to boot to the partition and nothing ever happens). Has anyone dealt with Crash Reporter or not been able to reboot? tdixon
By the way, when I boot to my install DVD, the only option the bootloader there gives me to boot from is the install DVD. Is the HFS partition supposed to be one of the options there?
