Help Installing on Dell Inspiron 9400

Hey

 

I am attempting to install mac on my Dell Inspiron 9400 and am running into trouble. I have an nvidia card (7800 GS GO), 2 gigs of ram, and the mother board says it is a dell MP061 (Whatever that means ). I am using the 10.4.8 JASS DVD install.

 

The problem is it is unable to mout any partition to format. I have gone into the terminal and used newfs_hfs to format, and it has said it was successful. then i used mount_hfs to mount it to /Volumes/test and it was successful. Then i go back to the gui for install and it will not let me view it, i go back to the Disk utility, and it says that it is still not mounted and formatted as a FAT32 partition. And of course, i am unable to format and mount the partition in the gui still.

 

I currently have Win XP, and Kubuntu installed on the machine, and am wanting to add a 3rd flavour.
