Slavens
I have an ASUS F3Jp: C2D T7200 2.0ghz 2 x 512 DDR2 667 120GB ATA HDD ATI x1700 video Intel 945PM chipset If I install with JaS Intel 10.4.8 kexts, the install fails with "Please Try Installing Again" If I leave the JaS kexts out, then the machine won't boot: "Could not load /usr/standalone/i386/boot" So I leave the JaS kexts out, boot using the install DVD and check the folder (mounted at /Volumes/MAC2/usr/standalone/) there is nothing in the folder. I tried copy the contents of the /standalone folder from the DVD, then I get a kernel panic for ACPI drivers not found. I assume that the kernel panic is because the boot files from the DVD are pointing to the wrong place or calling drivers that arent installed? So the stupid questions of the day are: 1. Are the files in /usr/standalone/i386/ installed from the JaS Intel (and) packages? 2. Should copying them from the DVD work (and kernel panic is a seperate issue)? 3. I'm booting with -v. should I be using any other flags if this boots into the installer? 4. I'm using the JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 image. Are there any patches that I should add to my DVD? BTW, the HDD has three partitions: 1. hidden recovery partition. 2. Windows XP 3. MAC OSX The DVD image is burned to a DVD-R (having tried +R and +RW with worse luck) Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46425-jas-1048-on-asus-f3jp-laptop-boot-issues/ Share on other sites
Slavens
I did some digging and found that the AppleACPIPlatform.kext is missing from the /System/Library/Extensions folder. I dug through the install DVD and could not find it there either. If it is on the DVD, where is it hiding, if not where can I get it? Also, is there a manual way to install the 10.4.8.Intel.pkg from the comand line? Thanks again Answering my own questions: I may be able to get the acpi kext by extracting the extension.mkext with /usr/sbin/mkextunpack , learned here:http://www.kernelthread.com/mac/apme/optimizations/ ... or I *could* have, it the file was on the DVD.... ... more to come as I find it Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46425-jas-1048-on-asus-f3jp-laptop-boot-issues/#findComment-332568 Share on other sites
Slavens
After several months of screwing with this, I discovered that I needed to wait for a better install disk. The 10.4.8 with SSE 2&3 with PPF 1&2 and 10.4.9 update bundle installed fine as long as I didn't use the Titan drivers. Still no WiFi, sound, or advanced Video.... Will post as progress is made Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/46425-jas-1048-on-asus-f3jp-laptop-boot-issues/#findComment-417360 Share on other sites
