Hey Guys,

From my personal experience, I've had mixed results in installing OSX x86 on a system running the P4 Xeon.

One system, which uses the Supermicro X6DA8 motherboard, installs just fine. Whereas, my other system, running a Supermicro X5DA8, doesn't get very far during the install.

This is a shot in the dark; But, I'm starting to suspect that this issue is related to EMT64. During install, I noticed that both systems are defined as ADP2,1 platforms. And OSX perfectly detects both CPU's (even HT) on the EMT64 system.

I'm very interested in hearing of anyone else's experience with installing OSX on a machine using Xeon processors.

Ok... from reading the forums, I've found that I'm not the only one who's having a rough time with the Prestonia core Xeons.

I know that I've personally had luck with the Nocona core. Anyone else had any luck with the Willamette or Irwindale core? I want to hear from personal experiences whether or not these cores work ;)

I have some P4 Xeons with Gallatin core that I'm going to try. That way, I can rule out if this problem is EMT64/SSE3 related... or just some stupid problem with identifying the processor.
