dirtblade Posted March 22, 2007 Share Posted March 22, 2007 I just recently updated my OSX 10.4.7 to 10.4.8 using JaS.10.4.8.SSE2.Intel.Only.Combo.Update.pkg.zip - basically everything went well but for some weird reason under "About this Mac" my processor is listed as unknown (see pic_01.jpg) and under "Hardware" it says that there is an error gathering the system info (see pic_02.jpg). It used to work before the update. The main reason for the update was the attempt to fix CI/QE for my NVidia GeForce 5200 but it did not work (see pic_03.jpg). Can anyone help me to resolve the issue with not being able to use CI/QE for GeForce 5200? I know that there are lots of people having the same issue but I couldn't find any clear answer yet (and "yes" I did install Prasys's geforce 5200 installer .mpkg). Also, perhaps someone has an idea why my processor listed as uknown and there no system information can be gathered? Thank you! WaldMeister Posted March 23, 2007 Share Posted March 23, 2007 Replace the Loginwindow with the one from 10.4.4, this should fix about this mac crashing if you have encountered it Also replace: /System/Library/SystemProfiler/SPPlatformReporter.spreporter /System/Library/SystemProfiler/SPPlatformReporter.spreporters with older versions. Optional you could add: fsb=133 to com.boot.apple.plist. For the geforce i'll have to get my old laptop, the only problem is my touchpad isn't working and the usb ports are almost defect. But i'll try tomorrow First try the above and give some feedback. Although, did you mean replacing Loginwindow, SPPlatformReporter.spreporter and SPPlatformReporter.spreporters from 10.4.7 or 10.4.4 (which I don't have)? I assume you meant 10.4.7 And if you can find your old laptop that would be great!!!!
