neeyo
So I got this new Dell Inspiron e1505 to install 10.4.8 on. Everything works out of the box except sound and the integrated Broadcom networking. Sound is fixed via the hda patcher and codec dump, but networking refuses to work. I've followed previous instructions regarding replacing the IONetworking.kext and another kext about PCI (sorry I don't remember the exact filename), I copied these files to the System/Library/Extensions folder, repaired the drive permissions, ran kextload and kextcache per the instructions, rebooted, etc., but OS X still does not see my networking adapter. The network utility doesn't see any ethernet device and I can't set up dhcp through the OSX equivalent of WinXP's "connection wizard." Can anyone give me advice on where to begin? My general PC knowledge is very high, but this has been my first day with OS X after reading the OSX86 wiki pretty thoroughly. Any help will be greatly appreaciated since this basically makes my OSX useless if I can't get online with it. Yes, the network hardware works since I also have gentoo linux installed on the laptop and everything works fine. Thanks for any help. neeyo
And I'm retarded... when I extracted the kext file and burned it onto a cd on my main pc it extracted as IONetworkingetc_1.kext .... In my defense, it is 1:30 am... but now everything's working and I'm content with going to bed now.
