I finally got my partitioning issues worked out during the installation and everything finished successfully.

Now when the machine is booting, if I let it boot up by itself i see the Gray screen with white apple logo, then it crashes, and tell me i need to restart of power off.

IF i hold down shift and force a safe boot, the machine comes up properly.

Anyone had this problem? how did you fix it?

My Setup:

Asus P5W-DH Deluxe

Pioneer 111D

2gb DDR2

Jas 10.4.8 sse2/3 v1p install dvd

Yea I have another thread EXACTLY like this. I have to bulldoze through my formatting issues only to find OS X only boots in Safe mode. Anything else causes an infinite loop of screen flashing or kills the video feed altogher.

Intel Bad Axe 2

core2duo

2gh ddr2

7900GT

Jas 10.4.8 SSE2/SEE3

I think mine is a video card issue.

From apple's website....

Starting up into Safe Mode does three things to simplify the startup and operation of your computer:

* It forces a directory check of the startup volume.

* It loads only required kernel extensions (some of the items in /System/Library/Extensions).

* Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger only: It disables all fonts other than those in /System/Library/Fonts .

* Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger only: It moves to the Trash all font caches normally stored in /Library/Caches/com.apple.ATS/(uid)/ , where (uid) is a user ID number such as 501.

* Mac OS X 10.4 Tiger only: It disables all startup items and any Login Items.
