llama69
Hi, I've installed OSX X86 via Marklar's Patched Installation DVD. The OS Boots fine, and the installed apps work ok - I-tunes / Safari etc, however I cannot get any PPC apps to work. When I try and load them, they appear in the objectdock for a second and then disappear. I've tried installing the 0.5 Maxxuus patch, which seems to make no difference (the installation works ok, but has no effect on the ability to run PPC apps). I looked in system profiler and it says that Core Image(or Graphics, can't remember) isn't supported- perhaps that is related to it? Currently it'll only boot in safe mode (-x) however if I trash the ATI extensions, it'll boot normally- neither method affects Rosetta. Oh, I've tried the right-hand button on the program, Get Info and then trying to select use Rosetta- however this only works with Safari and other pre-installed apps. On native PPC apps, the option to use Rosetta doesn't appear. I'm stumped - any ideas? I'm running it on a P4 2.4Ghz (with SSE2, according to CPU-Z), 512MB RAM and a Radeon 7500 Graphics card. I forgot to say before- Itunes isn't working either- so Rosetta definitely isn't playing ball. It's a native installation, so no VMWare used. llama69
I've managed to sort this out now. I must have had a bad installation disc, as I downloaded the Generic-Tiger.iso image (I was using Marklar-Patched.iso before) and installed that and PPC apps are running fine now. kernalzero
I've been having a similar problem. I have the OS running perfectly with the exception of any software I try to install. I used the tiger-x86-tar.bz2 Deadmoo Image. I've tried installing MS office 2004, Firefox 1.0.6, Firefox 1.5...they bounce for a second then dont load. Even safari that's already installed crashes now and then. Itunes doesn't load but I assume that's to do with the rosetta. my signature contains my system profile incase you need it...Thanx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4580-rosetta-not-working-despite-sse2-patch/#findComment-36623 Share on other sites
