Hello,

 

I've been trying to enable QE, CI for this card. I can load Natit.kext, but NVDAResman will crash at boot. I read that there is a way to change the io fboffsets for Natit, but I don't know which file I would need to edit. This method seems to be the only workaroound for 512mb Video cards. Any help would be appreciated,

This method seems to be the only workaroound for 512mb Video cards.

 

you are wrong. 512mb nvidia cards are being worked on.

 

you need: NVidiaEFI.kext (found here: macvidia.com : _np's toolbox)

 

install in conjunction with natit.

Thanks, I have tried Titan, but I couldn't boot past login screen, my card has same id, huh....my card is also an XFX Silent(no fan), DDR2 Dual DVI TV PCI-E.

 

Update: I flashed video card as instructed by gotoh on the MacVidia Site. Works great, QE, CI, resolution change, dual monitor, OpenGL, all work very well. :(

Hi there...I have exactly the same card as you...XFX Geforce 7300GT 512mb Silent. I'm running Kalway 10.5.2, upgraded to 10.5.3 with the Kalway updater. I had exactly the same problems....Darwin only saw 256mb of VRAM, CI was only software supported & no QE at all.

 

That was with Nvinject 2.0. I managed to sort things out by..

 

Summing up the courage to flash the card. It isnt that hard so long as you read enough about it & dont proceed until you have it clear in your mind exactly what you need to do step by step. As a final precaution, write down the DOS switches for nvflash.exe, just in case you junk the card & have to flash it blind. Saying that, so long as you follow the steps laid out its not hard. I have never flashed a video card before & I managed it no problem. Basically, [and there's a full explanation on the nvInject site of how to do it].....Basically it goes like this:-

 

[0]Go & research it more, then some more, & even more till you know youre as comfortable doing it as you ever will be

[1]In Windows format a bootable floppy & copy/save nvflash.exe on it. [get it now & save it on a USB key]

[2]Boot from the floppy into DOS.

[3]Run nvflash.exe & save your EEPROM configuration as a ROM file <BACKUP.ROM>

[4]Boot into windows, copy <BACKUP.ROM> from the floppy to a USB key. Now boot into OSX & patch <BACKUP.ROM> with the 512Mb ROM patcher app available at NVInject, [you can avoid moving from one OS to another if you make a bootable USB key], save it as <FIXED.ROM>

[5] Boot back into Windows, copy <FIXED.ROM> from the USB key onto your bootable floppy. You now have two ROM files stored there, <BACKUP.ROM> & <FIXED.ROM>

[6] Boot back into DOS with the floppy, use nvflash to wipe the EEPROM & replace it with FIXED.ROM. Exit nvflash using the reboot command.

[7] Enjoy seeing Darwin recognise your card as having 512mb VRAM

 

<<I did the booting into Windows by temporarily installing a truly ancient 6Gb Maxtor hdd as a slave drive on the IDE channel, disconnecting my SATA hdd & installing XP on the 6-gig Maxtor. Once I'd finished using it, I just unplugged it & reconnected the SATA>>

 

Flashing the card only sorted out the VRAM issue. Still no CI & QE though....

 

I found that answer by accident. I tried installing the latest nVinject 2.0.1, & setting a NVCAP value, which gave me a black screen & then only 1024 x 768 resolution after a -f boot . Searching for an answer I came across someone who'd got everything working with NVKush.....so thats what I did...went along to his site, downloaded the latest NvKush & the kexts for Leopard packages, installed them, rebooted & Voila!...full CI & QE enabled with 512mb VRAM recognised.

 

Easy.
