Hi. My audio seems to be buggy as it works for a moment, and fails for a moments.

Im running my OSX on a A8N-Sli m/b.

Lets say im playing a song now, and when i hit stop, after a while when i resume thrs no sound anymore...

It happens to any media playing on my computer, including video streams, and front row.

MY solution:

1)spam the play button(not a smart thing to do)

2)It works...(#!@%&$@#@%$!@)

Can anyone help me? My spacebar is suffering... :D

look at the midi settings for output device ...

the alc850 has 6 channels ...and sometimes 3rd Party Software or other Apps change the settings ( channels from 2 to 6 or the sampling rate ) and if you play the track one more time, it might be the song was send to the rear channels ..

this was in my case.

if you have no sound go to the midi settings (type midi in spotlight) and change 6 channels to 2 channels . or maybe the sampling rate from 48000 to 41000 Hz ...

i dont know how the midi-settings-app names in english because im from german, but i might be something with midi too.

hope it helps

sorry for the bad english...

  • 6 months later...

That's exactly what I get m8

Whenever I start Garageband or Logic it sets the audiochannels to 6. With doing that the sound is gone and I have to reset the channels in the midi panel to 2.

This though messes with the latency and the audio gets interrupted (cracks/pops)

Sometimes it happens with Synergy too but very rare.

I think we need a fix for the midi panel setting (disabling 6 channel setting so it cannot be set no matter what) or a fix for garageband/logic when it initializes the audio and sets it to 6 channels.

Any ideas lads?

Thx
