SoundMAX installation help!

Hi all,

 

Any suggestion is welcome.

 

The 2-ch sound output worked perfectly once before.

I used 10.4.8 JaS DVD and patched "10.4.8.Azalia.Audio.Support" from the DVD.

 

But after I did a clean reinstallation followed exactly I did before, the sound output breaks. Sorry for my poor english, I would try my best to explain it by text.

1. After patched "Azalia.Audio.Support" and fixed the IDs in .kext, sound tray icon showed in the the menu bar.

2. A "HD Audio Output" is listed in "System Preference -> Sound -> Output" dialog and volume changing works ok.

3. [Problem] Open a Terminal, press "TAB" twice, an alert sound called "Funk" comes out. I can hear the sound from the speaker, but the sound breaks to 2 parts which sounds like splited by a 100ms interval.

4. [Problem] Open iTunes, select any radio station, the sound breaks just like (3) in the first few seconds. After that just works ok.

5. [Problem] Play a mp3 in iTunes, just same as playing radio in it. Sounds breaks in every first few seconds, whether play the whold mp3 from the very beginning, or the middle of it, or play -> pause -> play.

6. [Problem] Play a video in VLC, sound breaks from the beginning to the end. The log from VLC is pasted at the end of this post.

7. Everything just works perfectly in Windows XP.

 

 

According to the (7), I think hardware is just fine.

So any suggestion? Please, I appreciate any help from you. Thank you.

I have a slightly newer model of the same laptop, with the same audio card. However, following the instructions you have linked in your blog, I get audio out working fine without the issues you have mentioned.
