I've got a Toshiba Satellite A105-S4034 and the "JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich

-R.patch.Integrated.iso"

Like I said, my main problems are the lack of ethernet support and audio support. I've been trying to google it and search through the forums but I haven't been getting too far.

The chipset for my laptop is an Intel 945GM Express.

I'm not sure of the exact model of the integrated ethernet.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well be sure of what hardware u got and then probably you might get help, from what i know your audio card might be an ALC 861 or 882, and for ur ethernet its probably an intel pro100/ xx (xx for ve or + or something like that) so boot up in windows open ur hardware panel and ull get the info there. :)

UPDATE:

:censored2: I went to toshiba website and found that ur audio should be a realtek ALC861, but i couldnt find the info for ur network card....

so for ur audio you can try to download the kext file that i have uploaded here http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?act...ost&id=9589

and replace the one you got in ur extensions folder, but dont forget to backup the original in case this dosent work for you...

as for ur network provide the info and probably you will get help...

if the audio dosent work for you let me know so i can guive you the link to the guide that can help you to make it work... :P

I too have a Toshiba notebook that runs on 945GM. I didn't bother to look up the exact model of the network card, because it worked right out of the box, except that you have to unplug and re-plug (or ifconfig down then up) to get the network card going, or you can just wait from a few mins to an hour for it to go up automatically, the system simply doesn't know the NIC is active right after boot up. I am not sure whether this is your problem, but if you can see anything like "Built-in Ethernet" or "PCI Ethernet" in your control panel, that means your NIC is recognised, just need a bit of a kick to get it going.

My notebook also have a ALC861. I have tried absolutely everything, the clsoest I got was that a "HD Audio device" is being displayed in sound control panel, while there is no sound from either internal speaker or the phone jack, and there is no controls at all (such as volumn). After talking to an Toshiba Engineer while I took my notebook there for a warranty fix, he told me that the pin assignment Toshiba used is a bit different than others, I guess we'll have to fliddling around with the driver a bit, otherwise there is a no go with regular methods. My current solution is to use AuLab at home, but no sound at all outdoor.

I hope this help, if I found any definition answer for the ALC861, I sure will post back.

I popped windows back on there so I could dig out the network info.

We've got an Intel PRO/VE 100

Did you try the audio extentions that i posted or not yet, let me know if it worked cuz i got the file for the same network card, so let me know if you get the chance. and for your network card try to get the device and vendor ID so i can make sure that i wont send you

something that wont work

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has responded so far.

Once I found out I had a PRO/VE 100 card I managed to find a guide fairly quickly on getting it running. (I thought it would have been some sort of random embedded thing by intel.

I tried installing the the audio kext you linked me but I get errors when the os x gui comes up.

"System Extension Cannot be used. ...was installed improperly and cannot be used."

I just replaced the old kext with the new one. Opened up terminal, deleted the /System/Library/Extensions, rebuilt the cache by typing "sudo kextcache -k /System/Library/Extensions" I assume that's the way to do it since that's how I got did it for the network card.

So with all that, I managed to come up with a new question of something to fix or actually test. How do I find out if my PMCIA slot is working without having anything to stick in there and test it with? (I'm thinking of buying a wireless card that would be compatable for it.)

UPDATE: I managed to get my sound working.

All that's left now is to figure out how to test the PCMCIA.
