I've already installed OSX86 on this computer (DELL Inspiron 8600c). It worked really fine from the deadmoo image. Recently I burned the 10.4 Dvd so I could install it without having to use dd and stuff.

The Installation (using the burned dvd) worked allright, I already had a 7Go partition with OSX on it but I wanted to make it bigger. So I used the disk utility to delete the OSX partition and make a bigger one with the free space I had. When applying changes it told me that it would modify every partition on the drive. Looked a little bit strange but since I had no other choice it clicked OK. The rest on the installation just went fine and I am currently on OSX86.

The problem is that it finds my Windows partition but it is empty. Same thing for my FAT32 DATA partition.

I have no idea how to retrieve both back. Seems like he screwed up both my mbr and the data inside the partition. Anyprgram I could run from a liveCD that could fix this ?

Thanks ;)

Your partitions are empty?

Do you tried to boot Knoppix or another live-CD to take a look if they are really empty?

I just did, using Freesbie. And the only thing I found in it were: .DS_Store, .TemporaryItems, .Trashes, ._.TemporaryItems and ._.Trashes .

and all were empty.

After some research I found out that iPartition doesn't partition FAT32 like it should be. Isn't there an app that would force to repartition FAT32 as it should be? (both my partitions were fat32) :(

I would have tried partition magic but since I don't have windows anymore...

The files on the partition are created from OSX86.

If the partitions are realy empty, you can delete them with a Linux live CD:

#fdisk -l (shows your partitions)

#cfdisk /dev/hda (change /dev/hda with your drive)

In cfdisk you can delete/create every partition you want.

P.S: Freesbie is Live BSD CD (Unix) and I don't know if there's cfdisk

I would prefer not to delete my partitions :(

Isn't there a way to fix the FAT32 partitions back to normal ?

I would prefer not to delete my partitions :P

Sure, but if they are empty now, you have nothing to loose :(

What format are they now, HFS+? (you can find it out with fdisk -l)

They are still FAT32

You can try different tools to get your data back, but for this you need a XP installation or a 2nd PC with XP where you plug the HD. At least there's no warranty that you'll get your data back with software.

You can try Get data back for FAT for exemple:

http://www.runtime.org/gdb.htm
