Hey,

I am having some problems getting osx installed, I get a "still waiting for root device" message when i try to start off the JaS 10.4.8 install dvd (or any x86 install dvd). I have tryed both SATA and ATA Harddrives and DVD-ROM drives and cant seem to figure out the problem.

Has ANYONE had this problem and found a fix??

Thanks

Musky

I was having a similar "still waiting for root device" problem with a regular ATA set up, and solved it when I saw that the hard drive was not set up as my Primary IDE Device in my BIOS (in fact, my drive was not even visible in my BIOS) - I looked at the drive and saw that the switcher was in the Slave position. So I put the switcher in the Master position, hooked it up again (with the Master connector on the IDE cable - I think this is important as well) and did another install. This time I got past the "Still waiting" message but now have another problem in that the install goes Ok but when I reboot, it gets to the grey screen with the Apple logo and spining busy thing and then my monitor goes into sleep mode and won't come out of it...

My specs are...

ECS PA1 MVP motherboard.North bridge: ATI Radeon Xpress 200 CrossFire. South bridge: ATI SB450

Pentium D 3 ghz cpu

Western digital ATA Harddrive and Western digital SATA hard drive

SATA DVD Drive and ATA DVD Drive (I have tryed both)

1 gb ram

X1950 RADEON video card
