Jas 10.4.8 Booting After Install

Hello, I have having trouble booting into OSX. Here is my configuration.

P4 3.0GHZ

Asus P5RD1-V

PC3200 DDR 1GB

10GB HD(seagate unlocked from xbox) IDE

60GB HD Maxtor IDE

DVD ROM IDE

ATI x800 PCIE

I was wondering if someone had a link that specified what the commands such as "-v -x cpus=1 -v" do, and what other commands exist.

 

First attempt, I was able to boot from the dvd and install mac osx onto my 10GB segate hd. Once it reboots, I get an error. Waiting for boot device, mDNSreponder: Browse Local Domain, or it just freezes. Then I tried different commands such as -x -v, and they lead me on a different trail of errors. If I let the OS boot normally, i get the grey screen with a circle that spins...then it freezes. I thought maybe its my IDE?

 

2nd attempt, plugging the 10GB segate hd into USB and booting from USB. It installs, then reboots...and same thing. Different errors, or freezes. I thought, maybe its the HD it self? Well, i have 2 that are identical that i unlocked and i loaded windows on one, and it works.

 

3rd attempt, I tried the maxtor 60GB. Installs, and reboots, then errors. The errors seem to always change depending on what command i input. cpus=1 -v , as i saw on a post gave me a different error. -x -v gave me a different error. Does anybody have any advice? When Im in the install window, I go to disk utility, and erase...then partition mac os journaled extended. Making sure its in PC Scheme, not Apple, and that the MBR is stated below. Then with 10.4.8, i customize the install, and click install. It asks to verify dvd, then it installs. After install, it reboots then freezes at grey screen.

 

4th attempt, using a different setup for the P4 Machine. Here are the specs to Computer 2:

intel c2d 1.8GHZ

Gigabyte ds3

Maxtor 60GB on USB

DVD WRITER IDE

corsair dd2 800

nvidia 7800gt

 

I was able to boot from the dvd, install it on my usb hd, reboot, then it loaded the mac osx. The graphics were jittery when you move a window, but it loaded.

Does anyone have any advice please? I'v been trying this out for a week, with different options. If only there was a site that listed all the commands, and what they do.
