Hi there, I am new here and I have been searching for the answer to my problem using things like "Grey Screen" etc. I have found a few posts that relate to my problems but they are old and I am wondering if patches for these things are included in the newest releases or if I still need to apply them. One thing I found was that this can be caused by a PS2 keyboard, (which is what I have). Does this still pertain? I also did not know about booting with the -v option until I was searching regarding my issue. I will try this tonight and see if I can post an error message. In the meantime I will post my hardware configuration and see if anyone knows if something there might be causing the problem. I used CPUZ ID to get the info: Intel Celeron D 356 SSE3 Processor Socket 775 LGA, ECS Motherboard, ATI RS/400/RC400/RC410 Chipset, ATI Express 1100 graphics card, RTL8139/810X NIC, I forgot to write down my sound card, but I think that it is a Realtek sound card of some sort. I installed with the options for ati video card drivers and printer drivers and the intel option. I saw an option during install for X11 but I didn't know what that was, so I didn't install it. Was I supposed to use the X11 option? The kernel is 8.8.1 if that matters. Does anyone see hardware that isn't compatible? Also I installed last night and it took about 3 hours for the install to complete from my DVD. Is this normal? Thanks for the help.

EDIT: O.k. after some more searching I think that I may have formatted the drive wrong. I first formatted using FAT32 and then reformatted the whole drive as MacOS extended Journaled. After some reading, I think I am only supposed to format the large partition with the MacOS file system. That could be one of my problems. I will retry tonight, does anyone know a faster way to get the install done? It took 3 hours for my first install to complete.

I have the same problem!

My motherboaed is ATI Radeon Xprress 200

Northbrige is ATI RC410, Southbrige is ULi M1573

When I install completes and reboot, Start "Grey Apple screen", after 1 minute, it's freeze!

Does Any One Help us?

I'm having a similar problem, I used the JAS 10.4.6 (10.4.4 with the 10.4.6 upgrade) and installed. I also installed Acronis OS Selector. Acronis says that the OS is unkonwn but I click boot anyway. I get to a black screen with a flashing white dash and my hard drive indicater light staying on solid. I don't even get to the grey Apple Screen! I waited 20 minutes but nothing happened. This is my second install attempt. P4 2.4Ghz, ASRock P4VM800 socket 478, VIA Chipset P4M800, Nvidia 6200 256 MB AGP, 512mb RAM, 160 GB WD Caviar SE. ANy ideas on how to fix this?
