CaptainNemo
Hi there, I installed 10.4.8 on my wifes PC on an old 20GB IDE drive and I worked fine (until I tried the Software-Update - ok ). Today I wanted to reinstall the system and removed the cheap nVidia card which has VGA & DVI but is only able to use on port at the same time and add an ATI x600 PCIexpress card into this slot. I installed the OS and it worked without any problems. On the first boot I hear the sounds of the registration stuff, but - I can't see it. I just see the grey screen with the Apple sign and a stopped circle below. What happend? How can I fix this? Cheers Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45143-elitegroup-mainboard-pciexpress-ati-x600/ Share on other sites
CaptainNemo
Hm when I boot the ATI Card ist displays "ATI 16MB" - thats strange, because the ATI x600 has 128MB RAM... Well.. I think it's better to use the nVidia card, even if DualHead is not possible there. But if one of you has an idea... joe75
Use macdrive or if you can handle it use -s and nano to add the cards id to ATI9700.kext. You should get QE/CI but no res change, and only VGA out What nvidia card do you have? CaptainNemo
Hi joe75, it's a poor nVidia GeForce NX7100GS. Nice thing which was originally bought for a HTPC I setted up using Ubuntu Linux. I need 2x 1280x1024, but the card has 1x DVI & 1x VGA - so I'm sure it will not work :/ Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/45143-elitegroup-mainboard-pciexpress-ati-x600/#findComment-322656 Share on other sites
