Dell D620 wireless

Hi

 

I am a newbie (I actually have quite a bit of experience on WinXP and Linux but no OSX) at this but I got 10.4.6 JaS installed on my Dell D620 laptop quite easily. I downloaded the iwi3945.dmg file and installed the package but after rebooting I just get the network icon in my taskbar at the op but the network does not work. It also says that the Airport is not working. I noticed that the WiFi light on my laptop stays off and even pressing the WiFi button does not switch it on. (On WinXP it is on by default.)

 

I understand that this is quite a common problem on the Dell D620's (and all other wifi cards??) so from the posts I gathered that system logs will be usefull. I created some and attached them to this post.

 

I would greatly appreciate any help on getting this working. I love OSX (it's like the Linux everybody wants!!!) but without a network (wifi) connection it's just a theoretical exercise, I can't really work on it.
