CaptainNemo Posted March 12, 2007 Share Posted March 12, 2007 Hi there, I currently downloaded an ISO from 10.4.6 x86 DVD and tried to install it on 3 computers. Computer 1 is has an ASUS A8V-VM Mainboard, Athlon64/3700+ CPU and 2GB RAM. A nVidia GeForce 7600GS PCIexpress is built in. Result: When I try booting the DVD I see the grey screen with the Apple logo and after 1 minute or so, I see a "Forbidden sign" (crossed circle). I tried a lot, en- & disabled ACPI (1 & 2) in the BIOS etc., built in a PATA-HDD, but still with the same result. Computer 2 (Elitegroup K8T890) starts with a kernel panic (can't load driver for this hardware "acpi") - even if I disable ACPI in the BIOS. Computer 3 works great. It's an Elitegroup mainboard with a nForce4 chipset and a passive graphiccard (nVidia) - still watching out for drivers for a native 1280x1024 resolution for the 19" LCD screen. But to come back to the problem: I want to use it on Computer 1 (the ASUS board). What does this "forbidden sign" mean? I searched a bit on the forum and see that some people got this to work on the A8V-series. I'm lucky for any help! Cheers Oops! Sorry - forget to tell: It's a 10.4.6 release I used. WaldMeister Posted March 12, 2007 Share Posted March 12, 2007 You should press F8 when the time out for booting the DVD appears, and the type -v , and press enter. Take a photo of the error, and post it here. CaptainNemo Posted March 13, 2007 Author Share Posted March 13, 2007 Hi demobile, thanks for your reply. Just solved that last night when the download of the JaS 10.4.8 was done. The DVD works fantastic on this hardware. I even have 2 little problems. 1. No sound - I've a VIA VT-Chipset and which runs an ADI AD198x sound controller. I found a tutorial how to patch the kext-files I need for that, but... how the hell do I find the Vendor-ID and Device-ID I need to patch it? I just bootet an Ubuntu Live-CD and found some informations in the device manager (Vendor ID 4358 0x1106 seems not to be the right one). 2. Problems with nVidia GeForce 7600GS & DualHead. I run a multi-display system here and the JaS 10.4.8 recognized that, on first boot, the wide screen (20") was flipped horizontal while my 19" displays the correct way so I can work. On the next boot, it worked, but the cursor won't be displayed on the 20", only on the 19". So I currently decided to use the 20" only until I found a solution. Thumbs up for JaS! CaptainNemo Posted March 13, 2007 Author Share Posted March 13, 2007 OK - Issue 2 solved. Solution: Boot the PC with 1 attached monitor, plug the 2nd monitor in, reboot the system. I believe it was under advanced, there you should find some code lines. Depending on this thread I need this UID - the Hardware ID 11D41986 seems to be correct, but where can I get THIS? CaptainNemo Posted March 13, 2007 Author Share Posted March 13, 2007 Ok - some minutes later... I checked Windows' device manager again and found a 8 digit number "subsys id" which is 1043818F. So I added it to the AppleAzaliaAudio.kext/Contents/PlugIns/AppleAzaliaController.kext/Contents/Info.plist, make it all as described, but - still no sound. What makes me wonder is, that the system doesn't recognize the soundcard itself. In Systemprofiler there's "No integrated audio". But in the BIOS it's enabled and with Windows, it works. Even my color laserprinter works fine now!
