Hello all,

I've obtained a copy of the JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.iso file and burned it to a DVD. It seems to work just fine upon starting up the disc, as long as I have a USB mouse and keyboard attached to boot it up with. Formatting the drive and selecting the options on what to install is just fine. However, when I get to actually installing it, I run into a problem.

At about 20% or so in the middle of installing the Semthex 8.8.1 kernel, the installation program runs into an error and tells me to restart my system. Rebooting straight into the installation brings me to a kernel panic.

I've tried to do this with only the USB mouse, with only one core enabled, and even tried to install OSx86 without the Semthex kernel (which installed fine, but ran into that same kernel panic). I've installed 10.4.4 and 10.4.6 before with no problems.

Machine specs:

Gateway CX210X

Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66Ghz

1GB DDR-667 RAM

80GB SATA HD

ATI X1400 64MB video card

3945 a/b/g wireless

If there's anymore information you need, let me know. Thanks in advance.

I checked the log file that the OSX Installer produces, and found this error:

"Mar 11 18:33:07 localhost : Processing JaS 10.4.8 for Intel SSE2/SSE3 W/ Semthex's 8.8.1 kernel :

The operation in bold is what I believe is the reason why OSx86 10.4.8 cannot be installed. Is there a certain file that needs to be changed or what not?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

  • 1 month later...

Bump. Anyone know why one would be getting this on a Dell 400 SC?

"BomFileError 1: Operation not permitted - /Volumes/MacOS//Sstem/Library/CoreServices/boot.efi

Install failed: Some files for 10.4.8.intel may not have been written correctly."

It then asks to try installing again (reboot button)....
