Hey all. What it comes down to-- I love OS X, its great. Can't afford the hardware so here I am. Two things are preventing me from sticking with it though; sound and sleep. Sleep, I can deal with. However, sound is a must. Now, I have a SB Live, but I realize thats pretty much a lost hope from what I've searched.

Now, my question is, will this card work with OS X?

I've searched and some reported issues with the chipset, so I'd just like to make sure.

Note: I'm getting JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich7-R.patch.Integrated now, I was on 10.4.7 JaS before I quit.

Thank you, and I really hope you could give me some kind of reassurance in the next few hours, because I'd like to order it tonight.

The sound won't be as good. This is the equivalent of onboard sound, on a card. For sound quality, go with the AV-710 - its an audiophile card, and its cheap as well.

I'm not sure what would work with OSX86. A driver was in development for the 710, but it isn't out yet. The "onboard sound card" might be more likely to work, research that chip above. The TurtleBeach USB Micro is a good OSX86 soundcard with spdif.

Thank you for your reply. I was buying headphones from newegg so I bought it; 15 bucks, if its not great, its not a tremendous waste. If I see those drivers come out, I'll look into it then ;)

(god, I really hope i/someone gets sleep to work, and then i'd be set... my pc is loud so i have to turn it off...)
