James Pan
Hi there I recently tried 10.4.8 JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 but still couldn't get it work. I searched the forum but didn't find anyone with similar problems so I could only post a new thread here... I tried several installations as listed below: default selection plus Intel patches. default selection plus Intel patches, the laptop power management stuff, and ATI x1000 PCIE. only essential and Intel Patches (no printer driver etc.) all the above 3 attempts ended up with the following: I did tried -x but the result are exactly the same. I assume that CPU 01 is in fact the 2nd core. But there's no way to disable it in BIOS so I cannot try it out... And I also stupidly tried installing without any patches. Then I got a kernel panic as expected My laptop is an Acer Travelmate 8204 with: Intel Core Duo T2500 2Gig RAM SATA HDD ATI Mobility x1600 PCI-e Realtek HD-audio and USB SoundBlaster Audigy 2 NX (never dreamt to have them work) Please anyone can help me? Guest Ramm
There is a boot flag to disable the second core I believe, you may just want to search. core2duo
I believe it's -cpus=1. Can't say for sure, since I haven't booted into osx recently, as I am patiently waiting for 3945abg driver. core2duo
Ah that's right... Anybody know if this is fixed in one of the newer releases for core2duo users? I think I am using the original JAS 10.4.8 release. Wondering if it's worth my time to grab the newest Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44552-1048-halt-on-started-cpu-01/#findComment-319211 Share on other sites

James Pan
I did the install again today choosing only the Intel Patch beside essential stuffs. And tried to boot with "-v cpus=1" The result is.... sadly: I saw in the last few lines there's something like a NIC driver is causing the problem? My laptop has a Intel Pro/1000PM LAN and 3945ABG wifi and seems there is no way to use both cores at the moment?? I have been trying to install without ati drivers and then I found this thread and got it to work so it worked w/o ati drivers. McDooglepoots
back again, sorry Im crazy, I must have typed cpus=1 and thought I did 2.... It looks like core duos have to type this in because BIOS says there are 2 processors where mac reads dualcore as one. You can go edit your apple.Boot.plist and fix this so it boots right into mac without having to type cpus=1 everytime. how to thread here Now onto screen res and networking...
