dexs Posted March 7, 2007 Share Posted March 7, 2007 Hello, I have wanted to use osx for some time now but refuse to pay x amount of money for expensive hardware…. I have recently purchased a Dell machine … is a duo core 2 2.13ghz…. I already have the disk requires which is 10.4.4. On my old pc this installed with out a problem but when starting the new installation I get a no entry sign appear in the centre of the screen. Can anyone point me in the right direction as I am starting to pull may hair out… and I don’t have much left. Dell DXP061 intel core 2 6400 @ 2.13 GHz 2046 ram Nvidia Geforce 7900GS graphics card not too sure of the motherboard. 300gb hdd SATA i have added a pic of the screen i get too. dexs Posted March 15, 2007 Author Share Posted March 15, 2007 ok so i have go a tad but furthur... i have managed to get the intel only and the amd and intell installer (10.4.8)... the itel doesnt let me do anything except see a nice white screen with an apple symbol and a no entry symbol. i tried to use the amd and intell version and i get a black prompt with a load of stuff refuring to the hardware... please see pic attached. Can some one help me please as i am tyring tp do this on my own but am getting nowhere very fast. dexs Posted April 5, 2007 Author Share Posted April 5, 2007 hello, so i am a little bit closer now. i managed to install the 10.4.8 disk it went through without a problem rebooted but when it did all i got was the same pic as what you see above.... white background, apple sign and a no entry sign... i disables a core of the cpu, dissabled raid and just booted from the hdd that the os isntalled on. Can anyone else recommend anything else for me to do? While i wait i will search the forums more. dexs Posted May 7, 2007 Author Share Posted May 7, 2007 hello, i have got a bit furthur... i got a new JaS disk and installed the think. in the customize section i made sure that the itel options were ticked. this helped. now what happens is that the unit boots i am greeted with the apple sign and the spinning animation. after about 2mins it stops spinning and stays like it for what seems to be eternity... any help? I also have a experience of the apple logo with a corss then I try to use Jas Mac OS X 10.4.8 It works!!I can launch the OSX. But there is a big problem that , if there is no OSX disc ,then it can't launch the mac OS.
