Forgott3n
Hello, I am following this guide: http://cybernet1.blogspot.com/2006/10/how-...s-mac-os-x.html I already have windows (NTFS) and ubuntu (EXT2 + SWAP) on this computer and I recently formatted a free section to FAT32 (10GBs) in preperation for OSX. I pop in the dvd, it loads, I open up disk utilities and proceed follow instructions (erase as FAT32, then erase as HFS+). For whatever reason the partition refuses to "erase" to HFS+. I also tried terminal to see if it gave any verbose diagnostics as to why. [Edit] Attempting on a Intel Core 2 Duo @ 1.86GHz with 1GB DDR2 RAM nVidia GeForce Go 7600 Toshiba Laptop (A100-TA9) with Mac OS X JaS 10.4.8 DVD. macgirl
Are you using Primary or Extended Partitions? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44372-fat32-erasing-as-hfs-not-working/#findComment-317758 Share on other sites
Mr. Sideburns
YES!...Others having the same problem. This is a question I would like to see answered as well. I have a primary partition that I have tried to erase to HFS+...and all it does is...well...nothing. It just names the partition to some technical name and that's it. aldrlandon93
If you click erase, it won't boot, but it will format ok if you click "Partition" instead of "Erase". EDIT: Oops, thought that you had a different problem Edited March 7, 2007 by aldrlandon93 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44372-fat32-erasing-as-hfs-not-working/#findComment-318122 Share on other sites
