plato23
Like many others, I get the "still waiting for root device error. I am using: Athlon 64 3000 @ 2.4GHz(Venice) Abit K8N SLI WD Caviar 160gb HD Drive 1gb Kingston PC3200 OSX is on a partition on my main drive I've heard many say the reason behind this error is because osx isnt recognizing the SATA controller. I have the file AppleNforceATA.kext.zip that has been mentioned as a possible fix to the problem? Is there any way to apply this? PS- I have tried installing OSX on a seperate hard drive and have the same problem, although I do not get that error message because -v does not work. It hangs at the apple screen, just like my described problem on my partition. BlackSoul
You have to boot with"-s" and install the AppleNforceATA.kext into /System/Library/Extensions. There is lots of tutorial to do that, use the search option. But, it seems to me that for installing OSX on a nforce 4 Sata drive you'll need to get this directly into the installation DVD because the original AppleVIAATA.kext corrupt the files. So use a ppf to correct that directly on your iso, you can find it for JaS : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=316605 TubGirl : http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=287171 Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44349-how-do-i-install-a-patch-to-fix-my-sata-and-get-osx86-to-boot/#findComment-317391 Share on other sites
