[Boot] Please Press Restart Button

Issue:

Installed JaS 10.4.8 with Intel patch. After reboot it displays (pic 1) after the apple loading icon. So what I did was restarted and hit F8 and typed in -v (pic 2-4)

 

 

 

 

 

What I've Done:

I've installed OSX with having the nvidia driver patch in and not in.

 

Specs:

- Toshiba 5015-s501

Intel 1.7 P4m [sse2]

256mb DDR 266 (400 but runs at 2100)

40gb hdd

JaS 10.4.8 OSX

GF4 MX440 Go

To answer your question, yes. GF4 MX440 go [onboard for laptop]

that is the problem

you need to delete the nvda kext and the titan kext just a sec. i'll post the commands

 

 

go to single user mode

sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV10Hal.kext
sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache
sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext

 

sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext

turn the computer on, chose os x... soon as you push enter push f8 and then type -s

when that loads type those commands.

then type reboot

and then chose it again and your install should continue

Ok...here is what happened. When I typed: sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/NVDANV10Hal.kext

 

is asked me if I wanted to override each individual file, which I said yes to. When I typed, sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.kextcache, it said "No such file or directory"...same for sudo rm -R /System/Library/Extensions/Titan.kext

 

However, sudo rm /System/Library/Extensions.mkext worked.

try doing the thing that asked you if you want to override each file... keep tapping enter until the thing stops.

have you tried booting back into though?

Yes I have. It did it again...so...I rebooted again, and typed -s until it got to the prompt...and I typed sh /etc/rc..

getting a lil further lol...

here is the other command.

sudo rm -r /System/Library/Extensions/NVDA*

it should now boot and your install continue

and if it doesn't delete the NVDANV10Hal.kext

That deleted a lot of stuff. Booting now, will update.

 

- it didnt work. deleted nvdanv10hal.kext, as I was reading the error and it said that was causing it. (there was something else, if it doenst boot ill list that)

 

-boy o boy, this is bringing me back memories from my *nix days...

I have to get off of here... I don't know anything else to delete ... all I can think is something .mkext

be careful deleting kext files if you delete the wrong one your screwed (you'll have to reinstall)

I dont mind reinstalling it. Would that be my best bet - but not do the nvidia patch...?

If it still isn't working...

do it with only the intel patch... (assuming you have intel)

then it might not work still, just do the commands on that I posted and it should work.

Mine had the same exact error and I deleted those kext and the install booted

Well like I said, two of the commands dont work.

 

[bleep] it. Im gonna install Vista on my notebook and put OSX on my desktop.
