PCvsMac
Original OS was XP media center, then I was successful with the DVD install-only thing is, I wrote OSX over media center. So after all of this I decided to do a dual boot, voila the dual boot was successful only this time I ran XP Pro and here lies my true question. An external Hard Drive I was using while running media center, I tried to continue use in Pro (my current OS) and its telling me I need to format my HD and I know doing this will erase all my info, how do I recover or transfer my info without losing it? thanx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4415-hard-drive-lost-in-translation/ Share on other sites
miranda363
can you access the drive using OS X? and did you have an operating system on the external drive and how was it formatted? PCvsMac
No OS was ever on the HD and I would prefer correcting this matter in Window, since I have more "know-how" there... miranda363
You could image the drive and keep it as a backup then try to fix the mbr and bootsector on the drive then Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4415-hard-drive-lost-in-translation/#findComment-28279 Share on other sites
PCvsMac
Could someone explain that a little more, how do I image my drive? Also not too familiar what mbr nor bootsector! Sometimes thes answers confuse me more than the original question.
