MadScientistVX
I keep getting a "HFS+ Partition Error" when I try to boot my computer. It all started 2 days ago... I saw the OSx86 Project page and, being a strong supporter of Mac but never being able to afford it, I wanted to try it out. I found an install guide on the OSx86 wiki for dual boot (http://profit42.com/?p=2). So, before doing anything, I used Acronis to back-up my laptop harddrive onto an external usb drive. Next, I used partition magic to create 7 GB of free space (as per instructions) on my main drive. Using 'diskpart' I created a 6.6 GB partition on this space. Then I started to 'dd' the deadmoo image onto the partition and went to go get some coffee, occassionaly throwing glances at my laptop screen to see if it was done. About 20 minutes into writing the image, I get a blue screen of death with a page file error (don't remember what; now that I think about it I should have written it down). I figure its no big problem, page file bsds are pretty common. So I restart my comp and try to boot again... Much to my dismay my screen displays "HFS+ Partition Error". Ok, so I figure, I'll just format the partition and restore my Acronis image and maybe try OSx86 some other time. I load up Acronis and create a primary partition of the full size of the disk (76 GB; prior to creating it, Acronis tells me that it is unformated, meaning, I assume, that something deleted the entire partition), and load the back-up image. This takes about 18 hours (I have no clue why it took so long). I come back when the little LED on my prtable HD stops blinking and open my laptop to the words "image successfully restored" (woohoo). Then I restart and heart aches yet again; another "HFS+ partiton error". I put in my Knoppix disk just to see if the image was actually copied to my HD. Everything seems to be there. Now I'm stuck... ......HELP!!! (please) Edit: btw these are my specs: Compaq Persario V2000 Notebook, 1.6GHz AMD Turion 64 processor, 1 GB ram, 80 Gb HDD, 40 GB external HDD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/4408-hfs-partition-error/ Share on other sites
pc_guru
Do you have a bootable Win 98 floppy disk (or some formater floppy disk) ?. In order to get your windows ok again, you need format your HD (the whole unit), using some bootable floppy disk (as those created by Partition Magic 8, by example) and there format your HD. After you can reboot from your Win XP CD (putting the CD in bios as main bootable unit), and start the install process. This's only a suggestion, anyway if you want it, try this method, and after tell me. Good luck !!.
