timgerr
I am installing the JaS OS 10.4.8 on a Dell D600. When I boot I can get to the second install screen (select a destination). There is nothing to select, is this looking for a hard disk. I just opened a new WD 80 GB hard drive and this is what I want to install too. What am I suppose to be selecting here? Thanks, Timgerr Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/44025-dell-d600-not-sure-what-to-sellect/ Share on other sites
antic
You will first need to format the Hard drive. Select ultilities from the menu. You will need to format your HD as Mac OS Extended Journaled. Or you can do the same but set partions for OSX and MS-dos if you later want to install Windoz. timgerr
So I did a reinstall and I checked more of the check boxes. The install finished and I can boot into a white screen displaying an apple. This screen then slowly ( I mean slowly) from white to grey and nothing happens. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. cugol
You can get Jas 10.4.8 installed by not selecting any of the boxes under the Jas AMD kernel. So do not select any ATI , Nvidea, stuff (these are responsible for the white screen, I think) and do not select the Power-stuff, these are responsible for the ACPI panics. After you have the core install you will still have some work to do since the Ethernet won't work and neither will Wifi. For Ethernet to work you will need to find the patch for AppleBCM5701Ethernet.kext which is talked about in another thread. I'm still looking for a way to get Wifi to work. Screen resolution will be relatively low at 1024x700, I'm hopeing to find a way to get that up which apparantly requires to install QE/CI ...
