Forlornn
Alright, I'm new to the Mac-on-PC thing but let me list my specs and OS version first I'm running the Velocity Laptop Notemagix L80 Ultra Intel Core 2 Duo T7200 (2.0GHz) (Supports SSES2,3, and 4) nVidia Geforce Go 7600GS (256mb) 100gb Seagate 7200rpm harddrive 2gb Corsair PC5300 DDR2 RAM 8x Dual Layer DVD Combo Drive Realtek HD Audio input/output Realtek RTL8168/8111 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC Windows XP Professional Image Used: Mac.OS X 10.4.7 - AMD Intel - (JaS) - IS... Ok, on to what i did. Partitioned harddrive, booted up the cd. I noticed my cd rom drive seemed to be flipping out and the install process was loading everything very slow, but i managed to get it installed with the Intel patches included on it along with wireless networking patches ect. Got into mac fine, all is well. Problem#1 I noticed though under system preferences, there were no other resolutions other than 1024 x 768, and the native on my external flat panel is 1280x1024 and the native on my laptop screen is 1680 x 1050, so you can see why i would want to bump up the resolution. I'm guessing this is a video card issue that hopefully can be fixed? Problem#2 No sound. Searched through macs sound options and everything was greyed out and i couldnt click anything, no sound devies were found in the list. Problem#3 No internet. My laptop has wireless in it but i have my ethernet cord plugged in while im at home so i wasn't trying for wireless. No ethernet cards were found, everything was grayed out when trying to setup the network. I am on a D-link router if that matters any. I searched around some but couldnt seem to find solutions to these problems on the forums. Help me out! mbaran
First of all, that sounds like a Compal HEL80 rebranded by your company ( it is). USE 10.4.8!!!!!. It has titan and your panel will work right out of the box along with QE/CI. For the realtek 8111B Ethernet, you need the Realtek R1000 kext, the package is availabe in the WIKI. The sound is for the ALC883 with 3 ports. Also found in the wiki or by searching. If you dont want to go to 10.4.8, at least get the Titan stuff, but i think it may only work in 10.4.8 8.8.1. I have the HEL30, which is the same, but with the 14.1 screen and it works great. Which means all you do is double click them, and they will install correctly. According to the ALC883 download page (YOU MUST USE 8.8.1 KERNEL WITH ALC883AUDIO.PKG AND ALC888AUDIO.PKG) R1000 (ethernet card) http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=187601 (get the one that says 1.04 installer) ALC883 (sound) http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=36520 Download those to the desktop, and run them, they will autoinstall and ask for a reboot. Titan is the NVIDIA accelerated support, which specifically works on your card perfectly.. im not sure where to find it anymore, the website is down.. im sure someone has a copy they can attach or PM.. but I think it only works once you have upgraded to 10.4.8 QE/CI is the different desktop 3d accleration to the GUI. The parent company that makes your laptop is Compal. Other companies buy it and rebrand it. You have an HEL80, another one they make with similar components is the HEL30. Same hardware, but with a smaller screen (14.1" vs. 15.4") Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43968-my-installation-experience-problems/#findComment-314471 Share on other sites

Treso
The problem of HEL80 is that needs to be removed the IOPCCardFamily.kext for it to boot. you can do it through the mac os x dvd in terminal (in tools menu). ok, if something is wrong correct me: In terminal write cd \ or cd .. five or six times then write this: cd System cd Library cd Extensions rm -dR IOPCCardFamily.kext and if you did not get any error you will be able to boot it.
