Hi,

I have the "JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskut" installed on my Core2Duo machine and during install I unchecked all options except the one that said something like "JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.Intel.SSE2.SSE3" (the tooltip said something like "Select this if you have an Intel cpu").

So was this the SSE2 patch? Does this mean I have now an SSE2 running mac (with lower performance) even though I could've used SSE3? I hope I didn't install the SSE2 patch accidentally <_<

I am not absolutly sure about this either. I read somewhere that JaS's release included a patch that would automatically detect the CPU so I used that patch as well and no-one ever cared to answer when I posted the question.

I guess I'll have to re-install OSX without the patch just to find out.

hecker

The kernel in that release is sse2/sse3 so if you have sse3 cpu it uses sse3 if you have sse2 it uses that... simple. :thumbsup_anim:

yes, but ....

1. In About This Mac, it shows processor name as Unknown (whereas on my old installation with mifki's kernel and 10.4.4 kernel, it used to show the cpu name)

2. System Profiler Hardware information isn't showing the HT, SSE3, NO NX etc. The whole CPU features line is missing in it !
