Hello everyone,

Today the ribbon cable i use to connect my OS X hard drive and CD Rom drive (both on one ribbon cable) has broke, the head that connects to the hard drive just fell off, and now i can't get on, or reinstall OS X, i tried using three diffrent ribbon cables, and all meet the same end, either the drive is not detected, or i get a "Disk1: I/O Error" while booting the DVD, and when i try disk utility, it does not see the three partitions on the drive that i have, i know that they are still there because windows see's them no problem, and when i try to format or partition it with disk utility, it just hangs. So is my hard drive just fried? or should i try buying a new ribbon cable and see if that works?

Thanks in advanced!

The pins on the hard drive itself are just fine, none are loose and the drive operates normally under windows, the head on the cable that connects to the hard drive just fell right off of the cable. I had the drive hooked up as a slave to the CD-ROM Drive on the same IDE channel, i got another three head cable that i had lying around and it didn't work, i then tried two different two head cables and hooked the drive up to its own channel, but it didn't make any difference. Any other ideas? Anyone?
