Heyas,

So I lucked out and scored a pair of clovertowns (Don't ask, and no I can't get more!). I thought long and hard about simply buying a baby MacPro and dumping them in, but on reflection decided to build a Franken Mac.. This might have been a mistake! I am definately out on the fringe in terms of hardware I'm running...

The Graphics card is straight off of the HCL, and the motherboard is as about as close to a Mac Pro Board as I could find.

Full parts list below:-

2 x Clovertown 2.4 GHz CPUs (4 cores per chip, 8 total)

Tyan Server Motherboard (5000XT) S2696A2NRF (SATA)

GIGABYTE Silent ATi X1650 (Top of Compatability List)

4 x 512MB WINTEC DII667 ECC FB-DIMMs

Thermalake EPS12 Power Supply 650W

So I got hold of the 10.4.7 AMD-Intel (JaS) disk from a buddy who used it to get his Celeron D rocking along nicely, but unfortunately it totally fails to load the setup, let alone get the OS on there.

Here's the "Paraphrased" Sequence

1. Boot PC, BIOS scoots by

2. "Press any key to Setup OSX, F8 for advanced Options"

3a. Let it do its thing it goes to greay background with apple logo, but just hangs there.

3b. Hit F8, enter -v for verbose and i get a page of text that looks like it sees the CPus, but then gets to

Waiting on <dict><key>IOProviderclass</key><string>IOResources</string><key>IOResourceMatch</key><string>boot-uuid-media</string></dict>

and sits there.. Any ideas anyone? Googling hasn't produced any sensible matches..

I've tried hardware swaps single user mode, and anything else I can think of. I'm trying to find a digital camera to post a screen grab of the output, but it mlooks reasonable to my untrained eye up until it sitting and waiting..

Right now I'm feeling like a prize muppet and wishing I'd bought the mac..

Please help..
