GiM
I've got a Turtle Beach USB soundcard. By recomendation I installed the Sound Blaster Live USB package on my install DVD (JaS 10.4.8). Now no USB works. When I boot to single user mode I get this error: Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleUSBOHCI and Failed to load extension com.apple.driver.AppleUSBEHCI Using kextload I get a bit more info: kld(): Undefined symbols: __ZN24IOBufferMemoryDescriptor17getVirtualSegmentEmPm kld_load_from_memory() failed for module Maybe I'm missing a library or something? But that seems unlikly... I looked at the Archive.bom and these are the things it is intalling (including all the internal files): AppleMIDIUSBDriver.plugin AppleUSBAudio.kext IOAudioFamily.kext IOUSBFamily.kext I'm not sure which of these existed before install (I assume at least IOUSBFamily and IOAudioFamily). I'm guessing installing the package overwrote these, but dies it make a backup before? Is there any way to back out of the changes? Anyone know where my originals of these are on my install DVD? I'm new to this Mac thing, but learning quickly. The failing kexts are PlugIns in the IOUSBFamily.kext which also has a bunch of other non-audio related PlugIns. It seems odd to me that these would need to be changed by the Sound Blaster package. And from there I'm stuck Any ideas, suggestions, or comments? Thanks. I just did a better search and found a bunch of info on the Apple debug version of IOUSBFamily. So I'm going to try that out. Ferret-Simpson
There's a point on this in my FOI in ../hardware. Wipe partition. Start again. Don't randomly install unnecessary drivers. GiM
If anyone has the same problem: The debug version worked. And thanks for the troll Ferret, they are always good times.
