cyris ng
Thanks Tak... next question... how do I burn a bootable DVD of the Generic Install DVD using Toast 7? Do I use "OS X x86 - The Complete Installation Walkthrough (Run OS X on PC).pdf" as my guide to install the Generic Install DVD or do I look for something else? Tak
I'm not familiar with that release or burning with Toast but that PDF is worth a read. Look for a "burn image" option in Toast (wild guess...) cyris ng
Thanks again Tak... how do you burn under Nero? Just burn the Generic.Install.DVD as if it were any old data DVD? Tak
What's the full file extension of the image? Should be something like .iso or .dmg If it's .iso, in Nero goto file..open, choose the image then burn. If it's .dmg, you'll need to convert it to .iso with UltraISO first. cyris ng
Thanks again Tak... the file name is "Generic-Tiger.iso" I right clicked under PPC OS X and selected "Toast 7". Burning it right now as a "Image file". Really wish i had DVD-Rs in case I foul up. cyris ng
It worked! Intel Pentium 4 3.2GHz ASUS P4C800-E Deluxe 2GB DDR400 40GB Maxtor 7200RPM PATA 52x24x52x16 Samsung Combo drive inno3D GeForce 6800 GT 256MB 17" LG Flatron L1740GQ LCD Logitech MX510 Apple Wired Keyboard (which OS X couldnt identify) For those who're confused as I was I'll spell it out in plain English. Get ==> Apple.OS.X.x86.10.4.Generic.Install.DVD <== Unrar it Burn the resulting .ISO to DVD like any other data DVD Reboot and set in your BIOS to boot off your DVD drive Be patient for at least an hour or two There you have it... cyris ng
Is that version 10.4.1 or 10.4.3 thanks 10.4.1 My video card isnt supported & defaults to VESA 3.0. No audio after the install but I read on the Hardware Compatibility List wiki I'll have to do some Command Line Interface jockeying to get it running. My next question is... what is "OSXupdate.tar"? When I decompress the .TAR I get a "OSX Update" folder which contains "osx86-update.pkg" and "README.TXT" THis is what is written inside the README.TXT This package contains updates for your 10.4.1 installation This has only been tested on a SSE3 proc cpu. Highlights: 1. tun/tap driver. 2. x86 Flash Plugin. 3. Updated Safari + Webkit 4. All new Frameworks w/ SIMD optimizations. 5. Quicktime 7.0.4 x86 complete. 6. 10.4.1 Kernel with 10.4.2 exec patch. 7. SDL FAT Frameworks. 8. Growl x86 Frameworks. Run xbench CPU test to confirm it is working properly. You should have a 50-70% better score.
