draco_87
Ive been away from osx-86 for a good while now so im a little out of practice. Now I find my self needing an osx installation for things like final cut pro. I wanted to use an external usb hard-drive for an installation, only problem is my laptop is being a pain and refuses to let me boot from it. So i was thinking, im only going to be using it periodically, maybe i could use the install dvd to boot from and go from there. Now, I would have tested this odd idea only i cant remeber the code tell the install dvd to boot from a partition.........it's been driving me nuts. Anyone lend a hand....? Im not even sure if this is possible Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/43126-booting-using-install-dvd/ Share on other sites
Neonkoala
In the bootloader type rd=disk0s1 if your OS X is on the first partition of the first disk, for second partition of disk 1 type rd=disk0s2. s0 is always the MBR so it can never be that. See my signature for more detail on the Darwin bootloader.
