Hey guys. I think I might be done with my Hackintosh because I'm worried I might ruin my laptop. The fan comes on every couple of minutes to cool the system down. I've check the cpu temps (Intel Core 2 Duo,1gm ram) and its showing 72C on like 5% cpu usage. That's pretty hot to me. When I run XP it's running about 20C cooler and the fan hardly comes on.

My question is do other people experience this on ther laptops and is there a way/hack to fix this. Thanks for your help.

His problem isn't the CPU usage percentage -- he stated at 5 percent it was at 75c, so changing the frequency isn't the problem. I really don't know the answer... just try to cut down on usage as much as possible.

Yes, BUT, when it's at 5% load, Speed Step can lower the voltage and frequency -effectively downclocking the CPU. This = less power used = less heat & longer battery life. Otherwise at 5% load you have a CPU idling at full throttle. NP in a desktop, not so good in a laptop.

Thanks guys. I will try the speedstep update. I will report back in a couple of days.
