iwannadl
My notebook has Vist 64bit/OSX dual boot with a FAT32 partition. When I boot into OSX, the system halted at "Loading Darwin/x86". I guess it is due to Mach_Kernel deleted by error BUT I can boot into Vista using the OSX boot menu. My OSX system is 10.4.8 with DaemonES kernel. I have downloaded the DaemonES kernel in Vista and tried to put it back to OSX partition with Macdrive. However MacDrive 7 beta 2 does not support Vista 64 bit. I only have a JaS 10.4.7 DVD installation disc, so who can tell me how to put the kernel back to OSX partition with this 10.4.7 DVD installation disc, many many thanks. cyclonefr
u cannot do anything. except if u copy the kernel on a USB key formated to HFS which isnt possible i think. give it a try then if it works u can mount the usb stick into the terminal using .7 DVD Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42703-mach_kernel-deleted-by-error/#findComment-305338 Share on other sites
iwannadl
Maybe I wait till Macdrive support Vista 64 bit? Or, I have a backup of the system on a USB hdd. However the kernel is 8.4.1 while my system on OSX oartition is 8.8.1. So can you teach me the steps how to copy the kernel from usb hdd to OSX partition booting from the DVD? I am a newbie. Guest bikedude880
Boot from the DVD and open up a terminal. cd / cp -r /mach_kernel /Volumes/<OS X Volume>/mach_kernel cd /Volumes/<OS X Volume>/ chown root:wheel mach_kernel chmod 755 mach_kernel Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/42703-mach_kernel-deleted-by-error/#findComment-305348 Share on other sites
iwannadl
Thank you, bikedude880! Today is the start of my lucky in Chinese Lunar New Year! I boot into the DVD and found out a mch_kernel.bak on my OSX partition. So I am back to OSX!
