Hi All,

Has anyone tried installing osx10.4.8 (or any other osx86) natively on Intel 946-GZIS??? I seem to be having someproblem accomplishing it.

System Specs:

Pentium D 820 (2.8GHz),

Mobo:Intel 946-GZIS, ICH7, GMA9000,

1 x 1 GB Kingston RAM,

1 x 120 GB PATA Seagate Drive 5400 rpm, 1 x 160 GB SATA Seagate Barracuda Drive 7200 rpm

Windows XP, and Vista, have installed successfully. Ubuntu, I'll Install tonight.

Thanks in advance

Finally, someone who'se read the FOI!

Hmm. I've never heard of the 946 - Is it a recent release? If it's an intel chipset that Apple haven't started using yet, Support could be an issue.

I think the most prudent question has already been asked. What are the issues?

Hi,

Apologies for replying late.

Intel 946-GZIS is relatively a new motherboard with Intel GMA9000 as the onboard graphics adapter. The problem is -- this is the only motherboard available these days in India still within the budget. The rest of them are far too expensive. I initially had ASUS P5RD2-VM and I was able to install 10.4.5 (Jas) on it without any problems. I had to replace it owing to defective soundcard and ended up buying this one instead as no better ASUS mobo was availabe (P5RD2-VM was no longer available and only ASUS P5PE was available).

The problem I am facing is that the Darwin hangs right in the beginning with 10.4.4 just after detecting cpu as dual core.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS: If I do change my motherboard to a more expensive one (865 chipset), will I be able to install Mac 10.4.4 or 10.4.7 on it. 865 is the only other Intel Mobo available other than 846.
