Hello, mates!

I have read all topics about cards and problems, but some of them are very old, another contain no real solution.

So maybe anybody can help me with new advice?

I have installed 10.4.6. on my laptop.

Mac says i have Radeon Mobility 9600/9700 (M10/MPN rv370) PCI Device id: 0x4e50

So, what drivers/packs/kexts i need to use with this card?

Thanks for big help.

ps. when i ma booting in normal mode with -v key i see "loginwindow: Login Window Application Started" finally and nomore appears. maybe its cause of video drivers?

Do the graphics go all Pixelated and funky? If so, I have the problem since the ATI drivers aren't installed yet. At the boot command line turn the colors to 16bit and it solved my problems.

With Quotes exactly like this:

"Graphics Mode"="800x600x16"

or

"Graphics Mode"="1024x768x16"

Those are the only two that worked with mine

good luck

Hi i have a radeon 9600 pro, but what drivers i have to install, to have a good resolution, because when i installed it mac os 10.4.8 i have QE AND CI but 1024x768 how can i have more resolution? Then i made the trick of forcing the booth in 1280x1024, but i lost QE anc CI please help me

It might have to do with the fact that you opted to select too many patches. If I install the JaS OS 10.4.7 with only the SSE2 intel patch I get the best results. Don't install the ATI patch since it is for more advanced ATi cards. I have the same graphics card with ID: 0x4e50 in my Acer Travelmate 291LMi laptop, it has an AGP interface and on JaS 10.4.7/10.4.8 it is supported right off the DVD, QE & CI supported albeit with the mouse graphics update problem and I am not able to switch resolutions. The standard resolution is 800x600 and I have to modify that well known configuration in the system configuration folder and set the resultion in that. Works like a charm, especially with Mouselocator and empty 'mouse locator' graphic to get rid of the mouse artifacts.

It is recognized as a PCI device though. AGPArt recognizes it as a AGP card but it makes me loose QE and CI. Installing Callisto get's me to where the initial poster is left stranded - the message Login Windows Application Started and nothing else. So I opted fo use neither AGPart nor Callisto since I pretty much have 1024x768 QE/CI performance anyways. Games that want to change the resolution are not able to and some full screen games like Quake2, Quake running at 1024x768 work great until I switch back and the mouse cursor is reduced to a screenwide horizontal bar of changing pixels (sometimes you see parts of the actual cursor appear in it). A reboot fixes that.

On my P4 3.4Ghz SSE3 Asus P4P800Deluxe 2Gb mobo I was using an ATI Radeon 9600 Pro with 256Mb memory and AGP interface. Pretty much the same way as I was using my 9700 Mobility on the laptop. Mainly because my Nvidia card (Nvidia 6600GT 128Mb AGP) wouldn't work properly with the third party drivers. But I decided to give it a go with with AGPArt and Natit and now have it working like a charm on Jas 10.4.7 updated to Jas 10.4.8 after installing AGPArt and Natit1.0universal.pkg. Resolution changes, QE/CI, shadow underneath mousecursor. I've even been able to play Doom3 AND Prey3!!!! I found out that installing AGPArt prior to Natit makes my card work properly, not the other way around.

I Arconis True Imaged the partition and have been able to get it to boot after I installed a bigger primary HD using the imaged WindowsXP and OSX partitions from the old disk. With the XP partition expanded and the OSX image the same (since Arconis doesn't truly recognize the partition and can only do basic sector copy and restore).

I have yet to get my 9700 working like my Nvidia does right now (truly native behaviour). It's my next goal. It's possible. Before I got my Nvidia card working I was very close to ripping out the Ati 9800 Pro from my G4..... Don't know if that'll work being a modified PC card made fit to work in a Mac though? Probably not, but perhaps the OSX part might stirr some life in it. But since the guy who modified it for me to work in my G4 also did some resistor alterations I dare not try it on my P4P800 Deluxe.
