Hi fellows,

I know there are so many reference topics to this problem, but this time none of them helped me to reslove it. I already had OS X running on my machine once, so I'm determined to do it again!

Here is what I used:

Software:

  • Windows Vista Ultimate RTM Build 6000 (MSDN)
  • VMWare Workstation - e.x.p build-36983
  • JaS.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3 self-patched with
    • v1p.ppf and

    • Defiant.diskutil.7.ppf

    [*]DAEMON Tools 4.08HE

Hardware:

  • 300 GB SCSI SATA-Drive with Partition 1 (30GB) Vista & Partition 2 (20GB) to-be-OSX
  • Pentium 4 (SSE3)

Here is what I did:

In VMWare the OSX install wouldn't recognize the Harddisk to install (opening the Diskutility only showed the 4,4GB VMWare Disc Image), so in the .vmx-file I changed all "scsi" references to "ide" & in the .vmdk (using physical disk) ddb.adapterType = "buslogic" to "ide" - worked fine, reformatted the partition to HFS+, selected appropriate patches, etc.

The Reboot in VMWare used the AppleGenericPCATA.kext, however I want the OSX to run native, so I followed this guide for SATA drives configuring the AppleVIAATA.kext and adding it to the IOATAFamily.kext. On native reboot nothing changed (see screenshot). After I removed the AppleGenericPCATA.kext from the IOATAFamily.kext, even in VMWare the OSX is "still waiting for root device" as it used the Generic-file for booting the (configured as ide0:0) harddisk (I can attatch the disk externally to my ibook, means I still can add the file back again, making changes, etc).

The problem:

As I said before, I am determined to solve the problem (with your help), considering that OSX (the 10.4.6 JaS image) was already succesfully installed once.

Thanks a lot in advance,

Max

:D

ok, I'm completely confused:

MAC OS X did boot twice natively and now it's all the same...

"Still waiting for root device"...

Am I only dreaming or what?

P.S.: After installing the Wifi-drive I get a

"Driver auto reconnect to last OID_802_11_SSID setting -"

message additionally...
