sooo close to installing

so im close to starting the install, but i had some questions before i do it:

 

basically im using this guide:

'cept i'm using win xp pro, now i noticed that if i change the boot, to the next hard drive and start the install and everything goes good and it goes into mac os, how do i go back into windows xp?

 

i dont have a disc, because my laptop came with windows

and i dont have a floppy drive

 

btw i have the 10.4.8 jas intel/amd ss3 iso image that i burned on to dvd

BTW you can change the boot in your BIOS. To make sure you will not screw up your XP, unplug your XP hdd before install your OS X. After you get it working, plug your XP hdd back and control your boot in your bios. This is safe way.

actually i have a laptop, so this is not possible (one hard drive)

 

is it also possible to do safe boot also? using f8?

 

And im also having trouble at this step....:

 

"5. Type in (press enter after you typed in a line):

 

list disk

select disk [the number of your disk]

create partition primary id=af

list partition

select partition [the number of your new osx partition]

active (if this doesn’t work, try ’set active’ without quotes) "

 

at the part, create partition primary....

it says "Diskpart was unable to create the specified partition"

do i even have to do this step? because i already made a partition using partition magic for Mac OS(about 7gb)

Is your mac partition listed when you "list partition" ? if so, did you just try to select it and make it active?

ive got the same problem... i tried to select the needed partition and then type in "create partition primary id=af".... same error..

any advice? thanks
